Description

This celebration is originally from the Ulla region, as documented in the  1870s.

The most important characters attending this event are the Xenerais and the post-riders on horseback, who are dressed in traditional military costumes, with ornaments on their horses. Along with standard-bearers, choirs and troupes, they go around the parish churches of the area and perform different plays, known as "atranques" or "altos". These atranques consist of a dialectic battle in pairs in which they mock current social issues. The different parishes even have their own singularities and maintain their defining traits. The spectacular nature of this traditional Galician Entroido attracts numerous visitors to the region every year.

The atranques or altos.
