Fair/Popular festival

Riós Town Council has held a festival to promote two typical autumn products from this mountainous region in the southeast of Ourense province since 1990: chestnuts and mushrooms. The event runs for two days full of cultural and culinary activities that promote various aspects of the area’s agricultural economy.

Talks on chestnuts, one of the town’s main attractions, mushroom-picking excursions, a chestnut and mushroom cooking contest, photography contest, and stalls highlighting artisanal produce from the region such as dry sausages and organic meat all have their place in this festival. The Chestnut Interpretation Centre, in Trasestrada parish, hosts many of these activities.
