Description

Inside the Casa do Pescador, the paintings are distributed around the rooms of the Fishermen’s Association, Old People’s Home, Day Centre for the Elderly and Bar Pescador. The surrealist artist from A Coruña, Urbano Lugrís (1908-1973), painted five frescos and three triptychs for the inauguration of the Casa do Pescador during his stay in Malpica in the 1950’s. Urbano Lugrís found his inspiration in the sea, more specifically in the sea of Malpica, and the life of this seaside town is present in his works; a tribute to the Sisargas islands and to the sailors of Malpica. To see all of the paintings you must visit the Casa do Pescador during the Association’s opening times, as it is the building open for the shortest time.
