At its mouth, where the River Ulla empties into the Atlantic Ocean, it forms a wide plain that opens out towards the sea as wide areas of marshland. Salmon swim up this river at breeding season. These fish are born in freshwater, grow up in the sea and return to the rivers to reproduce.
