Description

To get to this waterfall, first travel to A Estrada to take the EP-7001 to Forcarei. From there carry on to A Graña where you park up before continuing on foot. Cross the village and take the path that starts off in an open area before entering a forest of oaks and chestnuts where the trail is somewhat covered by all the greenery.

Continue downwards and you will start to hear the babbling of the water. When you reach the river, you will come to a stone bridge you need to cross to continue on the right bank. The path starts to become visible again and leads to a small artificial lake and just beneath it there is a small waterfall formed by the drainage of the lake. This is not the waterfall we are aiming for so carry on for a further 100 metres until you can see the main waterfall which, whilst impressive from above, is even more so from below.

This waterfall, at some 20 metres high, is on the River Porto, a tributary of the River Deza, You are now in the heart of the Serra do Candán mountains

IMPORTANT: The lack of signs makes it tricky to get to the waterfall. What’s more, when it rains heavily, you may find some sections are flooded and slippery, so we recommend taking great care.
