The church was begun in 1605, and has a notable Baroque tower with a small balcony. Inside, it has a ribbed vault, a splendid Churrigueresque altar and it seems that part of the masonry is from Ourense Cathedral, dating from the 15th century Of the convent annex, virtually nothing remains. The original building was finished at the end of the 17th century. In the 19th century it passed into the hands of the local council, with half the monastery disappearing when the railway line was laid. Later, it passed into private hands and was divided into fave parts. One of these was bought by the Franciscans, who returned here in 1915. A small community still exists here today.
