Between the capes of Ortegal and Estaca de Bares opens the winding estuary of Ortigueira. Scattered by beaches and virgin coves, Ortigueira has exuberant vegetation and rugged landscapes, crowned by the mountain range of A Capelada, with an abundance of wild horses and the "herba de namorar" (sea thrift). In front of the island of San Vicente, which you can walk to at low tide, is the spectacular beach of Morouzos, measuring more than 2 kilometers and surrounded by a pine forest.

Across from a cape Ortegal are the Os Aguillóns; spectacular cliffs that are more than 1.160 million years old, making them some of the earth's oldest rocks.

In beach of Morouzos, on the second weekend of July, more than 20,000 people camp to attend the Celtic World International Festival of Ortigueira. Held since 1978, it has become an event of international importance for those who love folk music.
