Municipal public foundation which has the prime purpose of the search,

conservation, exhibition and study of materials, from the Palaeolithic

to Rome, within the geographical area of Galicia. It has a collection

of materials dating from sometime between the Palaeolithic and the

Mesolithic, which essentially come from private collections and from

pieces recovered during archaeological excavations promoted by the

museum. The museum is located in a modern building from 2002

and, besides the permanent exhibition, it offers other temporary

exhibitions.
