Description

The original construction, which included a tower, was demolished and the present building erected at the end the 17th century - beginning of the 18th century. In recent times, it has been refurbished by the local council to house the public library, according to a design by the architect Rafael Baltar Tojo. It has a rectangular ground plan, and consists of two floors. The roof is four-sided and tiled, topped with a skylight. To highlight on the façade, the balustrade veranda supported by sturdy consoles, with Baroque balusters, occupying the whole front, the gargoyles on the cornice, and near the corners, two shields drawn by Castelao in the Nós magazine. Declared a Historical-Artistic Monument in 1973.
