The Lousado or Pozo da Area waterfall is located on the river Arenteiro, which starts in the Peña de Francia at an altitude of 840 metres and runs 33 kilometres until it flows into the river Avia. In order to see it, we must take the road that goes from Ourense to Santiago and, just after passing the civil parish of San Paio de Loeda and before reaching the bridge that crosses the river Arenteiro, we will turn right towards Lousado. Halfway there we will come across a detour with a signpost to Ponte Lousado and we will take it to go down to the old paper mill. About 200 metres up the trail, we will find the waterfall below the dam, as well as a stone bridge. We will find ourselves in a magical environment, set with wooden walkways and changed by the dam that used to carry water to the old factory, which closed around 1950.
