The creation of this museum was justified by the importance of the Castro de Viladonga, the number and quality of the archaeological remains, and by the need to exhibit them in context. Located at the foot of the walls of a typical ?castro? (pre-Roman fortification) and late Galician and Roman settlement, it contains many objects from the daily life of this village from over the last two thousand years. The collection comes from the archaeological digs on the site, from which a large number of pieces were brought out into the daylight: (tools, games, farming implements, pottery, decorative objects, etc). The museum has a large number of models, and it is an essential addition to a visit to Castro de Viladonga.
