The Sword Dance is a festival in honour of San Miguel which brings crowds of visitors from all over Galicia every year to enjoy the activities held on the day. The most striking attraction for visitors is the customary dance event showing the typical local dances, which has drawn ever greater numbers over the years. This is a longstanding festival, which has been celebrated since 1639 and begins with a dedication to San Miguel.This event draws together all the aspects of Marín, the seafaring activities on the one hand, such as fishing, and, on the other, the dances which are also part of local tradition.
