A small circular lighthouse, built on a strategic point from which the mouths of a number of estuaries can be seen (A Coruña, Ares and Betanzos). Standing outside, another lighthouse is visible, as is the old lighthouse keeper's house, today used as the Sea School Visitors Centre for the Costa de Dexo - Serantes Natural Monument. The museum features information panels which explain the lighthouse's story as part of the Sea School. The lighthouse is built from concrete with stone railings. The facade is in dressed stone and painted white. The lantern is housed at the top. Mera is an important tourist resort with fine beaches nearby, notably those at Portelo and Espiñeiro.
