The centre of the province of Lugo is characterised by a scenic countryside dotted with small villages. Inland, there are forests, scrub areas and rivers with excellent banks. It is noted for its well-preserved river, the Miño, which offers more than one surprise.

In the heart of the countryside

It is an area with a relatively significant population density found inside a biosphere reserve. In reality, it is a heterogeneous area where the dominant countryside landscape retains mosaics of crops and meadows outlined by valuable boundaries, well-preserved forests and, of course, riparian forests with a high degree of naturalness that are home to a rich natural heritage.

Most notable is undoubtedly the Miño river valley and certain of its tributaries in which river islands and well-preserved forests can be found all the way up to its shores.
