Description

The Festa da Pataca is held annually on the third Sunday of September and its origins date back to 1980. Bringing together heritage, tradition, and gastronomy, it is a cultural and social event that celebrates the Coristanco potato, the fruit of the hard work of local farmers and producers.
This festival has its origins in the need to publicise the quality of this gastronomic product, which finds in the land of Coristanco an excellent location for its cultivation, due to the combination of the humid and temperate climate and the conditions of its soil. It was one of the first gastronomic festivals in Galicia and the nation at a time of predominance of agricultural work and culture rooted in rural life.
For several days there are gastronomic contests, various exhibitions, concerts, presentation of different potato dishes, potato figures, the sale of local products,  a "Pinchos” route...  Sunday begins with a rally and parade of decorated tractors.
