This is an old monastery of the barefoot Trinitarians, founded in 1723, judging by the permits granted in 1695 and 1713 by the Count of Ribadavia, jurisdictional lord of Valdeorras. This monastery, together with As Ermitas, was the only relevant education centre in the history of Valdeorras. During its 120 years of life, it gave courses in grammar, philosophy and moral theology, by three religious memebers of this community. This monastery was also the site of a rebellion against abuses and feudal tributes by the Count of Ribadavia, culminating with the exile of two its monks in 1815, for distributing subversive propaganda against the count. It was sold between 1837 and 1842 in the Disestablishment.
