The Casa do Chocolate is located in the village of Teimende, in the municipality of Parada de Sil (Ourense), at the heart of the Ribeira Sacra, a region rich in heritage and natural beauty. The museum is housed in the former chocolate factory that operated under the brand name “Chocolates Caldelas” until it ceased production in the 1980s.

The facility still contains the original machinery, preserved in excellent condition, used for chocolate-making since the early 20th century. The museum explains the chocolate production process and the raw ingredients required. It also documents the technical evolution of chocolate-making, from early artisanal methods to the onset of industrialisation, including the shift from animal-powered mechanisms to electric power.
