The lamprey is a fish which has inhabited the rivers of Galicia for more than 500 millions years. Known as the "vampire of the water" or the "queen of the river", the lamprey is one of the earliest vertebrates on earth of which we have evidence.

Galicia covers exactly 29,574 km2 of Europe’s horizon. One cannot say that Galicia is small before one has explored it.

The most singular trait of the coast of Galicia is the presence of the estuaries. These arms of sea that enter the continent, creating a broken-up coastline.
