The celebration of the Xuntanza Internacional de Gaiteiros includes the following events:

Monographic courses related to the world of bagpipes and traditional music are given throughout the week with the participation of teachers of internationally renowned performers.

Exhibitions. Related to the world of bagpipes.

Craft Market with the participation of luthiers and craftsmen who exhibit and sell their work.

Festival. This is the highlight of the festival, the one that attracts the largest audience and closes the celebration. It consists of a concert held on Saturday afternoon with the participation of groups and soloists from all over the world of the bagpipe.

The singularity of the Xuntanza Internacional de Gaiteiros is due to two of its characteristics:

On the one hand, the importance of its location dwells in the largest and best-preserved acropolis of Galicia. The medieval village of Monterrei.

On the other hand, by the fact that we are talking about the only monographic festival on the bagpipes of the world that is celebrated at present both at the Galician and national levels.

On the afternoon of the second Saturday in June, the festival is held with performances by groups and soloists.
