This festival in Castro Caldelas is named after the fachós, the cylindrical bunches or bundles of straw which are tied together with more straw to form torches. These are lit and carried in a great procession that goes through the streets of this medieval village and ends in the great bonfire located in the atrium of the sanctuary of Nosa Señora dos Remedios accompanied by the ringing of bells.
