A MIÑA VIAXE
mailto:?subject=Content from Tourism of Galicia: CALDEIRAS DO RÍO CASTRO&body=I recommend you read the information CALDEIRAS DO RÍO CASTRO extracted from the Tourism of Galicia site on page https://www.turismo.gal/recurso/-/detalle/210708000146/caldeiras-do-rio-castro?langId=en_US%26tp=40004330
To visit the Calderas
del Rio Castro waterfalls, take the AC-440 road from Muxía to Fisterra. When
you pass by Moraime continue on towards Vilarmide, Couceiro, and then after
roughly 12km you come to the turn-off for the Castro recreation area, where you
can park up before a brief final stretch on foot.
The name calderas (cauldrons)
is given to this site because the water has carved the landscape into shapes
that are reminiscent of pots and cauldrons which have become natural pools.
There is a viewpoint where you can admire them from above and there are also some wooden stairs allowing you to go down for a closer look or go for a swim on hotter days.
The River Castro waterfall descends from a height of 8 metres at this point and forms a natural boundary between the municipalities of Muxía and Dumbría.
