In earlier times, before the fishing port was built, the sea would have reached the arcades, which were used to carry out land-based fishing work. It was also a place for fairs and markets and it later became a place for walks and social gatherings.
The maritime-style buildings, small houses with iron and wood balconies and their traditional taverns are all important.
