Description

Sacred art museum located in the monastic construction next to the collegiate church of the Sar, a unique example of Roman art. It holds valuable historic pieces like the founding scroll of the collegiate church from 1136 signed by Diego Gelmírez, as well as archaeological pieces and pieces from the old Roman cloister, the work of the Master Mateo. The route around the museum covers five rooms through which visitors can understand the history of this Augustine community from its foundation as a priory, to its transformation into collegiate and parish church of the archdioceses of Santiago. It also houses a small exhibition of traditional costumes and of the awards achieved by the folk group “Colexiata do Sar”.
