Description
A consruction that dates from the 17th century. It is a Renaissance-style convent, contrasting with the Romanesque apse on the Church of Santa María del Campo (standing opposite the convent). Inside the convent church is the tomb of its founder, Doña María de Alas Pumariño. Outside, the Lourdes grotto was built in 1925, an imitation of the one in Francia. A highly worshipped image by locals and visitors alike.
Access
From Loiba, we take the C-642 towards Ribadeo. After 22 km., we come to the entrance bridge to the town of Vivero. We cross through the Carlos V gateway, and skirting the Plaza Mayor, continue along Calle Teodoro Quirós. It leads to the Concepcionistas Monastery.
