A combination of roads meet in this square, which is located to the east of the cathedral. The original was destroyed, although some elements of it remain in the Provincial Museum and in the facades of the modern buildings that have replaced it. It does not have much architectural value, but it is important commercially. An austere 15th century building survives, which carries the coat of arms of the Catholic Monarchs.
Contrasting it with the surroundings, the Galician sculptor Buciños located a statue of Otero Pedrayo close to the coat of arms of Felipe II.
