The River Cerves rises in the Serra
do Faro de Avión mountains, close to the highest
point in the province of Pontevedra. A short distance from its sources it
squeezes into a ravine and flows over an astonishing drop, descending from
roughly 1000m at Tourón to the heart of Melón at 450m.
To get to the waterfalls, take the
road from Melón to Tourón and pay attention to the signs that show the way to
the waterfalls. After the bridge built as a platform to view the waterfalls,
you can climb a set of stairs to the right. At the top, the path doubles back
to offer views of the waterfall and the river from the opposite bank.
