This waterfall is on
the River Arcos, which flows into the River Xallas after running through the
valley separating the granite Monte Pindo massif from the montes da Ruña
hills. This river used to flow into the
River Xallas before emptying into the sea, but this changed when the Santa Uxia
reservoir was built.
To get to this
waterfall, head to the A Noveira treatment station in Mazaricos. Next to it there
is an information board on the Ruta das Fervenzas trail in this area
which, besides the A Noveira waterfall, is also home to the Gosolfre, Fírvado,
Vioxo-Chacín, and Santa Locaia waterfalls.
Walk a short distance from here to get
to this wonderful waterfall, which is 10 metres in height and is marked by the
eroded stone blocks and natural pools on several levels. On hot days they are
great for going for a dip.
