Description

Very close to the Orzán cove, in the old Capuchin convent, an old building from the 18th century by Casas Novoa, perfectly integrated in the modern building that the architect Manuel Gallego Jorreto, holder of the national award for architecture, completed in 1995. With a collection of more than 5,000 pieces, this museum is one of the best cultural references of Galicia. The exhibition space is distributed across various rooms that house an excellent collection of paintings, sculpture and decorative arts. Spanish and foreign artists like Juan de Juanes, Murillo, Tintoretto or Rubens are combined with Galician artists from 19th and 20th centuries. The etchings room focuses on the figure of Goya. We can also highlight the section devoted to ceramics from Sargadelos. The rooms for temporary exhibitions always have interesting programmes.
