The Camellia, flower of the Rías Baixas
The camellia is the star of this route. You will visit three gardens that have been awarded International Excellence certification. Firstly, the Pazo de Rubiáns, whose gardens were created in the 17th century and to which magnolias, cryptomerias and araucarias have been added. It has more than 800 varieties of camellias and an albariño grape estate, wine that you will taste at the end of the visit. Next you will visit the castle of Soutomaior, where you will discover its garden of camellias named after women: Rosalía de Castro, María Casares and Bella Otero. Finally, you will visit the Pazo Quinteiro da Cruz, an orchard in the heart of the Salnés region. It is home to more than 5,000 camellias of more than 1,500 varieties, including the sinensis, from which they make their own tea, which you will taste at the end of the visit.
