Description

The Torrentes de Macara are located in the town of Palas de Rei, in the upper stretch of the river Ulla where its waters join those of the river Pambre. To get to the start of this route, head towards Pambre Castle and, once there, follow the LU-4008 road towards Ramil and Melide. About 2 kilometres from the castle, before crossing a bridge, we will see a dirt track on the left with a sign pointing the way to the Torrentes de Mácara.

From there we will continue on foot along a path that runs next to the river and where we will have to be very aware of the terrain; climbing rocks and dodging trees. In some areas there are traces of what must have been a fence and some wooden steps. As we go up-stream, we will see a marvellous succession of waterfalls and pools of water, in a magnifi-cent setting that stands out for its large number of strawberry trees in the surrounding area.
