Description

The Cerves river forms a narrow and deep canyon with a great unevenness, down which it descends, giving rise to several waterfalls, the highest of which has a drop of about 40 meters and is known as Feixa de Santa Cruz or Codesás waterfall.

These waterfalls must be seen from a distance, it is impossible to get close to them. To get to the point from which we can observe them, we take the N-120 road between Melón and Ourense. After about 3 km we will arrive at a roundabout where we take the first exit to continue along a track that will take us to an abandoned warehouse next to which we can leave our vehicle.

From there we will walk along a dirt track and, although we are close to the river, we will not see the water due to the dense vegetation, although we will hear the roar of the waterfalls. We will continue along this path, which on some occasions seems to be closed off by abundant vegetation, to turn right and, when it has turned about 90º, the surrounding vegetation opens up and we see the Cerves river with its canyon in front, although pretty far.
